Real faith

The missionary Jim Eliot said, “ “He is no fool who gives up that which he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” This is a spiritualy mature view of life. In the book of Revelation, we’re told that those who overcome the pattern of the world, overcome Satan by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony. The word of their testimony is that they did not love their lives so much as to shrink back from death. Rev 12:11 They didn’t hide their faith. They didn’t fear what they might lose if people saw that they followed God. They were actualy willing to die, to give their lives following Jesus. There’s always pressure to live out a faith no one knows about, a faith that doesn’t rock the boat, a faith that's not accountable to anyone; a faith that gets the, “Only God can judge me now,” tattoo, and lives out it's personal version of Christianity, completely seperate from others. This isn’t real faith, it's running with our eyes shut, jumping in the air, where no one can see us. It’s coming to church and hearing the word of God, but living in such a way that no one ever sees Jesus in us. That’s the kind of faith that will bring us before Jesus; talking about all the things we did for him, but he says…."Depart from me, I never knew you."
