As we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, it will seem that God isn’t here, that He isn't able to keep His promises. Does He hear, and see, our need? If we examine the truth we see He has reached out to us, meeting our deepest needs, and setting before us a means of escape. Hebrews says, “Whoever comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.” If you have enough faith to believe that God rewards those who seek Him, and that His ways are better, then you are well on your way to experiencing an EPIC life, and in turn, you will have a testimony of walking with God. This book is a testimony of walking with God, I pray you find it useful.
We trust God, because we are born again, having tasted and seen the greatest treasure, we go and sell all we own. Our testimony is the record of our response to the good news of Jesus Christ. Like Abraham we have been interrupted from our daily routine, awakened to the possibility of something more. Here,Jesus says to us, "take up your cross and follow me." The evidence of our faith is revealed when we trust that God will do what He's said. So we come to find, as it says in Revelation 12:11, “They triumphed over Satan by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Our testimony will show if we walk after Christ, or if we turn from Him. Is ours a testimony of going where God says to go?
The flesh, and its desires, are handed over to Satan for destruction, that the Spirit may be saved. We are led astray by our own desires, and apart from Jesus Christ, our desires will bring about our death, and the suffering of those around us. For example, all of our friends may be engage in premarital sex—and every TV show may encourage it—and it seems like they are having the "time of their lives," and we’re missing out--but do we trust God enough to say no to our own desires, believing that it’s better to wait, and do life as God commands? Must we taste and see. We either develop a taste for life, or we experience the taste of death's sting. We can walk the path of sinners and find that reward, or seeing God, we can turn from our ways and follow Him. He has come that we may have abundant life. Satan came to kill and destroy. Those who will live for perishing things will also perish.
Can we endure the ridicule of our peers, in order to please God?
Do we believe that we can’t do what is wrong and prosper?
Do we believe that God rewards faithfulness?
Can we live by faith, and not by sight?
It's certian that Noah walked a hard line in His community. No one believed him. Surley he was ridiculed and mocked. Noah, instead to testifying to what God had told him. He could have just rambled on about the cost of building material, but rather he testified that God was displeased with his creation and sought to destroy it. Sure, there will be people that say they’ve heard from God and haven’t, and we will know them by their fruit, but don’t we want to hear from God? Mustn't we atest to the fact that we do hear from God, and infacrt come together to seek His face? Do we boldly go to the throne of grace to find help in this, our time of need? We’re all in this wilderness together and we have somewhere to go. We can't get there on our own, we have to have the Holy Spirit. So we need each other to see the full picture, because God is building His Church, as He reveals Himself to each of us. We each have a unique place in His body, and a unique calling; this is the thing that makes our story epic, it isn’t our story, it’s God’s. He is the author and finisher of our faith, and unless He builds the house, we labor in vain. It is when He builds His Church, that the gates of hell cannot prevail against it.
The light shines in the darkness, and we confess that we have seen His light, and that His light shine in us. Our testimony is of the transforming power of Jesus Christ, that we are baptized in His Spirit, born again and lead by Him.
If we’re seeking our own desires, and writing our own story, then we’re not the church that God is building. Israel didn't testify to the power of God at work within them, when they came to the promised land, but refused to enter in and take possession of it. Their testimony became one of failure, complacency, and doubt. We can attend church and not have a testimony of where God is leading us. We can do many works for God, and be unknown by Him. We can show up each week and watch the show, and never find our unique purpose within the body of Christ. We can be a church that isn't going anywhere, just like those Israelites, wondering the desert, for no other purpose than waiting for that faithless generation to die off.
So what's your testimony?
Is it of the power of the cross, and the leading of the Holy Spirit? Is God calling you to take your place in His church? If we are the church, then we are on a journey of faith. We are discovering truth as we follow Jesus to the place He leads us. "EPIC, is this testimony of following God. (Of Experiencing Power In Christ) Our lives are a witness to the gospel; do we testify that we are led by God Himself? We lift our eyes to God, that we become a people who encounters Jesus.
